Going low, the woman would notice more of the balls coming and swipe at it to try to knock it away, though not expecting the pop as her hand was swiftly encased in some form of tendrilled mass. "I...wait no, your trying to trick me. You broke in here and you shouldn't be here. I am not going to let you steal or do whatever nefarious thing you have in mind!"

Keeping up her pace, her next action was perhaps far more unexpected. She made no sign to stop as the tip of the spear would connect and drive itself through her by her own force, and attempt to grab the Villain after moving along its shaft. The girl would cry out in pain as it happened with her eye clenching closed, but still despite this her free hand would reach out to try and grab Cruach with surprising strength and push them to the ground.

She raises a brow at the villain's comment. "Practicality? The difference in powers? Oh don't worry about any of that, I am extremely flexible" She makes a small show of stretching, putting one hand to her lip as she raises the other and seems to bend almost ninety degrees to the side before laughing to herself "But its nice to see your grateful for the company, you were looking so gloomy when i first caught sight of you i just had to get involved."

She turns to Mechakoloss noticing them going strangely silent "Normally they don't go so silent until I tease a little more, It's adorable really but again the masks, you never can see if they are blushing or not"

She raises her hand "Hey Hey, Are you accusing me of plotting something? Well, every minute of every day but nothing untoward regarding yourself. I am not trying a thing unless you want me to" She lets off a playful chuckle and a wink before waving off her hand at the thanks. She doesn't make any actual movement in the fighting stance though, putting the hand back to her hip before glancing at the new arrival.

She laughed once more at the mention of a date "I mean it depends, the downside to big masks like those is you can't see how cute they are underneath, and not exactly an ID you can check to make sure a person is not too close to the cradle." She seems to idly inspect her free hand's nails as she speaks, still as casual as ever.

Grin widening further she strikes a pose, making a somewhat circular motion with her hips as if showing off "I mean got a lot to be proud of, I am not above admitting may have a little bit of an ego and pride in what I'm working with. I mean heroes wouldn't dress in spandex and bodysuits if they didn't want to brag and show off a little right?" finishing the short display with another laugh.

The first ball hits as she is standing, knocking her back slightly, before the next takes her leg from under her, causing them to fall with a bang. She really had no idea what was hitting her, and the insects were not exactly helping her vision. "Because you not supposed to be here and....and i know you up to no good!"

The girl coughs as she gets to her feet, the ten-drilled material seeming to suffer a similar fate to the insects as she pulls the remains off of her body. There were still the insects, however, as they continued to pester her there was a faint shifting in her eye from blue to green and along with it sparking from around her clothing causing each of the insects to combust on contact and fall to the ground.

Back on her feet she would run at them again, she needed to catch up with them but she didn't really want to hurt them, so her best idea was to find some method of tangling them up to restrain them. But for that she wanted to get closer, if she tried it too soon it would just give them notice it was coming and make it easier to avoid the next time.

The insects would attempt to bite away at the girl's skin, though whatever her costume was made of seemed to be challenging to get through, the stingers getting caught within the material after the first few times. Still, she attempted to swat them away while keeping hold with one hand. Suddenly those in contact with the red of her costume seemed to almost be grabbed by something and pulled in, the girl seeming to get ever so slightly bulkier below the layers. It would take her a moment, but she would fling herself across through the swarm to the opposing window and into the building to chase.

She shouted after them "S...Stop!", she tripped as she came through the window, but stumbled to her feet to look them over, there was that weird tendril thing they were doing but regardless they had to withstand and bare it, she couldn't fail her first real engagement.

Raising her hands wide to her side the woman gives a sudden slap to the rear of the bench to throw herself upwards to a standing position with a grin and looks down on the woman most likely Masstress seeming to be about six and a half feet even before the heels she was wearing. "Question away little birdy, also, you really should relax, i know you seem out of it but you really are seeming a bit overly stiff and rigid, so how can i hel...." she does stop at the second question however, seemingly unaware of the second individual until they announced themselves "Hmm? I mean strangers a friend you haven't made yet and all that, but honestly no idea who that is? not that parks don't have there share of voyeurs sometimes but it really isn't cool to be spying...oh" she stops and turns back to Cruanch "Oh right the other question, Masstress by the way, Glamourous Hero, Single, 121-61-91, enjoy long jumps across the rooftops and good days at a spa, anything else that peaks your interest?" She raises a hand to offer it to them.

She remains extremely casual and relaxed through it all, the smile not fading and genuinely cheerful and bubbly, though her nose does seem to twitch slightly at the scent emitting from the costume, not that she mentions that.

She stops looking to the bills and then back to the cape "W...Wait! Your not rested up and.....I thought you didn't have anywhere to go?" she clearly felt guilty about taking the money, hobbling after them to catch up "Didnt you not have to go to the PRT til tomorrow anyway? I...I can go get you what you asked for but...do you really....can you really be giving your money away like this? I...I don't know if i can accept it,, I barely did anything!"

Character avatar

A Small Job as Walker 1 year ago

She inhales before taking a firm step forward, clenching her hands as she steels herself further "That would involve turning away, and I'm....I'm not going to do that. I have to stand here and do something if that's....if that's the type of person i want to be."

Despite only her eye being visible it was clear she was scared, and the threats certainly were heard, but the rest of her body seemed to be doing the opposite of what a fearful person normally would, going towards it instead of away. There was the question of just how she was going to reach the person though, she didn't want to throw something since they would just duck inside, and besides she wasn't the type to attack first.

Looking around the area she noticed a few trash cans next to the dumpster, then the opposing wall, and then a ledge next to the window the villain seemed to be on. Nodding to herself she moved, seemingly somewhat clumsily and favoring her left leg. She hoped from the trashcan, onto the dumpster, across to the opposing wall and sprung back to grab the ledge of a window to try and pull herself up with one arm. She was closer at least, within range of the Villain but she hung there staring at them first.

A Meeting of Three as Masstress 1 year ago

She shrugs and gives a faint laugh at the whisper, a wide smile on her face "Ive had some practice and the occasional crime so far, though really nothing big or exciting yet....so it was either this or go for some dramatic poses on rooftops and hope someone snaps a picture while making it look natural" she tilts her head at the thought putting a finger to her cheek before shaking the thought away.

Turning back to look at them fully she listens, her eyes going to the moths for a second and pursing her lips. She really hoped they wouldn't try and eat the fabric, moths did that right? she hadn't ever had them in her wardrobe but that was a thing she thought. Though maybe they just go for old dusty clothes...hopefully

Keeping a cheerful attitude she raises her hands to face them. "Hey Hey now, That's not the important part you should be asking. Why am i here? I was walking through the park. Better Question? Why did i stop? The answer is, Because you looked like you were having a bad time and superheroes are all about helping those having a bad time right? Sure its not as glamorous as fighting in the street or stopping some major crime, but given how far down one bad day can lead, seems only right i try and help when i see it you know?:

She made no move to move the hand from her shoulder, nor did she flinch, she just remained sitting there in a relaxed posture and crosses her legs. The girl seemed out of it, given how she flipped from one emotion to another and errative behaviour. She idly wondered if she was actually having some sort of mental episode? or maybe the stress had just been that much. Either way she could only really figure out more by talking.

"And you seem like you're having a bad time, so, I was thinking if you wanted someone to sit with in silence, talk to, or if there was something that could be helped with more directly? Seemed like a job for someone with free time and a willingness to help" she laughs once more with the same beaming smile across her lips. "If you want to talk that is"

Character avatar

A Meeting of Three as Masstress 1 year ago

Masstress strolled through the park having decided to take a break from her attempts at patrols. She had been hoping for a robbery, maybe a few muggings, heck she would even take a drunken fight in the street at this point, but nope everyone seemed to be either on their best behaviour or far better at keeping out of sight. Despite her height, the tall woman seemed to move with barely a sound, the footsteps being muffled as she came into view of one of the parked benches.

Though it wasn't the park benches that gave her pause, the costumed individual upon them. She looked restless, pacing, and posture and movements it looked like Masstress wasn't the only one having a terrible night. Crossing her arms and giving it a thought for a moment, she eventually shrugs and starts to approach. Sure she might not be able to find a fun crime to stop and get some attention, but she could at least maybe try to make someones sucky day a little less sucky.

She strode forward, a sway in her step and her long coat matching the movements before unceremoniously, she threw herself down on the bench next to them, arms stretched out across the back of it.

"Now a lot of people having a bad night would do this at home, or at least have something to drink with them. Besides a park is supposed to be relaxing and your seeming anything but, something eating at you?"

Character avatar

Staying back still, the artist seeming to have been finally willing to leave though not without a few more words. What did they mean about indoctrination? no it was probably more nonsense, the way they talked didn't make sense to her but the interest in her still unnerved her. "P...Please just....just leave. This isn't....the days done, I mean night but...still" It felt she should say some more but that was all she could get out.

Character avatar

A Small Job as Walker 1 year ago

Swallowing hard she rapidly shakes her head "I...I can't do that, I am not going to find anyone else. I found you so...I have...I have to stop you. You can go elsewhere if you just stop, I won't chase...So please, I really don't want to have to fight if there is an alternative".

Her hands were gripped tight and trembling given this was her first time really encountering an actual villain, sure there had been the Artist but he had left on his own accord when he got what wanted.

Character avatar

She listens nodding along, her mind running with the mention of the PRT with thoughts coming to mind. "I...I would like that but erm....we have water, the rest...." she turns to look over to her cart at the side "Only canned food like soups, We used up the last of the burgers we found and they don't throw the expired stuff out til Sunday"

Character avatar

A Small Job as Walker 1 year ago

She looks confused as he mentions the terms "Huh? I....I mean i guess I'm a new hero, still picking things up and yes i have a....wait no, What are you doing? How is your job breaking into random buildings?" she clenches her hands as she keeps her eye on the other woman

Character avatar

A Small Job as Walker 1 year ago

The girl blinks her one visible eye when confronted, seemingly not expecting them to simply approach so quickly and start accusing them. This did put her on the back foot somewhat as it almost made it feel like she was the one in the wrong.

"I...I was...trying to Patrol i guess? I mean...thinking to but....." she stops taking a breath, remembering that she was supposed to be trying to be a hero so she needed to act like it. She really did want to just be a Hero that was a deterrent though rather than just starting fights, and beside she had to confirm what she had seen first

"I mean what are you doing here? I mean action-wise..the whole entering from a window does look suspicious like your....trying to rob something?" It came out as more of a question, the Cape seemingly not wanting to bring a false accusation, but the suspiciousness of the whole thing did seem to lean that way.

Character avatar

A Small Job as Walker 1 year ago

The homeless girl had been walking around the city at night, dressed in her costume but really more in thought than with a particular purpose. She was broken from her troubles however when a sudden movement caught her attention from the corner of her eye, turning just in time to see some strange figure climbing through a window.

What where they doing? perched in the windows ledge after doing something to open the window....were they a hero or villain? what even was this building?. Walking over to the street she glanced from the figure to the building itself trying to assume just where they were breaking into.

Character avatar

One foot infront of the other as Walker 1 year ago

She stops her stumbling and quickly nods but stops at the mention of the Protectorate instead going into deeper thought then confusion and finally a surprised realisation. Blinking she quickly voices up "W...Wait, That's an option?! I mean...erm...I think i know where their building is but.....I didn't know they did stuff like that, Ive been going around trying to help with things and even get a job and....." she stops hitting her head a few times in frustration before stopping with a deep sigh.

"Its....its no trouble, Its only right to help if someone needs it.....Ill do my best to try and get you what you need, It...might be better to wait until your recovered to go to the Protecterate building anyway right? First impressions and everything"

HELP WANTED, INQUIRE WITHIN! as Walker 1 year ago

The girl nods as she reaches to take the number staring at it. The question was just how would she be call if something did? Its not like she had a cellphone, and those payphone things she had heard about were either long broken relics or a small silhouette with patches of discoloured cement. She could perhaps ask someone to borrow theirs, but with how close many kept there own phones she doubted they would be likely to help on that front. She had to only hope nothing came up then she concluded, after all she shouldn't throw this chance away. She was turning to leave and at the door before a final question came to her

"I...I will. Do i...need to try and find anything to bring? or.....erm, Do i just come on the day?"

Character avatar

HELP WANTED, INQUIRE WITHIN! as Walker 1 year ago

She slowly nodded. but someone like her who was put in a state like she was, likely deserved it. Sure she couldn't recall why, but the ever-present feeling of guilt in the pit of her stomach convinced her it had to be true. Bad things didn't happen to good people with such frequency, so whatever she had been before they awoke in the city must have been truly horrid.

"Thank...Thank you again, I really am sorry for all the trouble. I will try my best...to get the stuff sorted." She did however remain seated as she really didn't know how a interview that actually went somewhat well was supposed to end. Did she say something? Shake her hand?, It was a first so she really was lost. So she just sat for now fidgeting with her fingers gripping the side of her chair uncomfortably.

Character avatar

Still a little out of it, Jane couldn't only share a questioning glance with Zipdash. While the artists earlier comment caught her off guard, the more she talked the more uneasy it made her, like she had caught the attention of a predator or something that would not end well.

HELP WANTED, INQUIRE WITHIN! as Walker 1 year ago

She turns away as Winona talks about the morals of economics, she could hear in their tone that she wasn't a fan of the concept but had accepted it as a truth of the world. The thing was, it wasn't something that she could truly agree with, though perhaps that was just Janes wish to live in a fantasy of a world rather than accept its reality since if she did, she would need to fully accept a whole host of other issues. Still it would be rude to come out and say Winona was wrong, especially when that wasn't something she was entirely sure of, so for now she should probably just agree with her.

"I...I suppose that is a truth, maybe once I have enough to ensure my existence then i might be better timed to think about doing it for others. I have..maybe gotten too used to existing without much."

Character avatar

HELP WANTED, INQUIRE WITHIN! as Walker 1 year ago

"Then i guess i could, Ive gotten used to moving around though" she goes to give the other words some more thought. As much as she did need money, she had a terrible time not using it for others and actually spending it on herself. Pawning stuff did seem like an option, but she did enjoy fixing something to give to another who she could see using it and appreciate it, having it just sit on a shelf and then those who need it having to pay five times or more than what she had got for it? That didn't feel nearly as comforting.

"I guess i could add, figuring stuff out if i have enough time to the list, fixing tangibles at least, The other side to selling though is....well a lot of places assume its stolen, and those who would take it anyway are.....not the best people doing it for good reasons"

Character avatar

The girl winces as she realises her honesty inadvertently lets her whole secret identity thing slip so soon. Internally chastising herself she eventually relents with a sigh "Y...yeah, Though guess i really am not a good one letting that out, Its Walker if we are using cape names, either way the ghosts didn't seem dangerous and were just...wandering and lost, besides you looked bad and..." she stops in her tracks eye widening "N...not that you look like a bad guy, I meant the other...wait not like not pretty i mean...." she pauses again taking a breath and makes a strange gesture with her hand as she calms herself.

"You looked like you were not in the best of health and needed some help., and from what you have just said i guess i was right, though i..i guess its nice to have someone with a similar outlook, but i am sorry to say i...don't think I've ever been to Atlanta? I think its far away though right?"

"I..might make some things worse but....i do always try to end it without conflict, or at least redirect the conflict away from others" Onto herself, she did have a tendency of making herself the punching bag to help others feel better with an outlet or just a preferred target.

Her smile widens however at the girls later sentiment "I...You can call be Jane, its what others do. "

Character avatar

HELP WANTED, INQUIRE WITHIN! as Walker 1 year ago

Her face did show understanding as the woman explained to her, and it made a good deal of sense. She did try to fix both but it was likely why she hardly seemed to get the intangibles right, saying the wrong thing and despite trying hard it barely ever worked, but she kept trying because it was worth it for the times it did.

"I think i understand, I really haven't sold anything before....." not that she had much to sell, and what she did she was more likely to just give it to someone else in need instead "But its....not really uprooting, Im....not really rooted" and i don't have much of a life to uproot even if she was.

Character avatar

Her head lowers slightly as she mumbles slightly to herself "I...I'm not a brute" The girl seemed to misunderstand the entire term and pulled back no longer making eye contact, though her eye did widen slightly at the beautiful comment. Her mind really didn't know how to process what she just heard, so she must have misheard it or it was likely another misunderstanding, she was obviously talking about the other cape. Her expression went from confusion to uncertainty, giving the artist a quick glance before looking away again. The single comment had thrown her for a loop and she was now completely lost on how to handle the situation if she even had any idea before, and especially didn't trust herself to say anything.

Character avatar

The girl continued to sweat out more of what was left of the drug that hadn't been deposited down on the pavement, her eye somewhat shakey but looking towards the artist. Janes stomach was still in knots from the change as she tries to compose herself, resting a hand across her stomach, she never could control how her body changed when bad stuff happened, heck she couldn't even control what would count as "bad" it seemed a random outcome designed to torture her and remind her of what she was, what she deserved. Suffice it to say that suddenly developing a second stomach and then a burning temperature mid-psychedelic trip wasn't a pleasant experience.

The fact the artist seemed to have gone straight back to mixing wasn't really something that improved the situation either "H...Hey you....you said you would go if i took that stuff...." she lets out another cough as more red stained her bandaged hand, sparing it a glance. She really hoped when that stomach went way it wasn't going to be as....unpleasant as the other times.

Looking over to Zipdash for a moment she really wasn't sure what to do, she also seemed to show some confusion at whatever the Artist was referring to and perhaps hoped the professional cape could shed some light.

Character avatar

Jane's leg buckled as the liquid hit her stomach; she dropped to one knee as it overwhelmed her mind with sensations. This certainly was not one of her better ideas certainly, though it was the one that would end this without conflict should the artist keep their word. Her hand goes to her stomach as it churns. The colours and sounds flashed before her for a few more moments before a tearing pain brought her back to her senses on the ground.

She could feel it deep inside, something shifting, twisting, tearing apart as it moved around, her stomach seeming to become tighter. She could feel it inside, a new organ seeming to form connected to her stomach, taking its place as a dual system to better filter incoming toxins. This naturally only left her body one thing to do, and that was expelling the foreign substance that was causing mayhem. The girl began to rapidly shiver where she lay before quickly rolling to her side, to eject her stomach contents, the blue of the drug mixed with....a crimson red, several large clumps of what looked like paper and bile. The entire mess formed a large pool next to her as she shakily gets to her feet, her visible skin also seeming highly flushed with sweat dripping down her exposed features to soak the bandages, though unlike normal sweat this seemed to have the slightest blue tinge to it. Getting to her feet finally, Jane would wipe her mouth and give a cough before finally speaking "I...I took it so....you...you will keep your word right?"

Character avatar

HELP WANTED, INQUIRE WITHIN! as Walker 1 year ago

The girl gave a somewhat confused expression "Oh I mean, I...I can just find a place to sleep closer, you really don't need to go out of the way with bus fare...." Not that many would let her ride, anyway there were a few sheltered alleys and lots she could setup in she noticed on her way here. Her confusion only deepened at the latter phrase "Tangibles and Intangibles? I...I mean its mostly been just making the most of what...what people could find. There are lots of things just thrown away that...well i mean a clean and reconnecting the right wires just fixes...By Intangible do you mean like....problems people have? I have....tried that sometimes but,....it doesn't always go well"

That would also not be the full truth, or perhaps simply understating it. Trying to talk some conflicts down did result in a empty bottle being thrown and her pushed to the ground a few times, though it did perhaps stop the issue still, if only through a new source of ire instead of whatever brought the others to fight. Then there was her attempts at hero work, which so far had been more lost pets and charity work than anything.

Character avatar

One foot infront of the other as Walker 1 year ago

The girl with bandages smiles weakly. "I had to help, I...I couldn't let the others get there first in case...in case they might have misunderstood. Its nothing really.". Jane shifts her position again to sit back down, her leg seeming to crack at the movement.

"I think....it would be fine to stay here if you needed, II know it's not much, but it's warm and dry at least" She cast a arm out and around the semi-open camp, which in all honestly was more a large space next to the river under a bridge, various makeshift tents and barrels were arranged around, small fires and numerous people seemingly keeping to themselves or huddled in groups.

"Getting an actual apartment or anything...i mean that's harder, I know a few squatting spots indoors but that has its own issues....and to get a proper one is expensive, even if you could without references or a bank account" she lets small sigh looking down to the ground for several moments "But here...people don't really care who you are, or where you're from, they know everyone has a story and.....and they look out for each other, making most of what each person can bring as long as no one person starts too much trouble....even then it normally gets sorted peacefully"

Character avatar

One foot infront of the other as Walker 1 year ago

Janes's attention turns as soon as she notices the change of the ghosts. spinning from her position on the floor to lean over to them, trying to stop them from standing up too fast. "E...Easy, you....you were exhausted and.... malnourished erm....I brought you to one of the camps" She rubs her hand nervously before spinning again to grab a can of food "Here...you need to maybe eat something, I tried keeping to fluids but...well...people need more" she offered it over with what looked to be a plastic spoon.

"I....well i couldn't leave you in the street....I thought someplace out the way, and....well the camps dont really judge who comes......did?...I mean im sorry if your.....if this wasnt the right place.....I just couldnt think of anywhere else...sorry"

She tries to think at the mention of schools and hobbies, a faint glimpse of some sort of clock with several wires and other assorted tools around a bench appears as a flash before it vanishes, the more she tries to grasp it the more it escapes her hand like holding water. "Maybe a Hobby, though a lot of that was learned recently. I would find stuff that could be used and take it back to some of the camps. Erm....as for transport, I walk to most places, if im lucky i can sometimes hop on the back of a bus if im quick to get me some places since they....are not really wanting someone like me to ride, Ive used the train too soemtimes..."

Looking between each person Jane nervously takes the vial, looking with concern at the injured hand of the person offering before looking to the contents of what she was given. Drinking weird things from strangers certainly was ill-advised, but at the same time it would allow her to get this resolved and the officer to get help without conflict. Standing there in silence for a short while there was another thought that came to her, how did the artist even know she had powers? she hadn't shown anything so did they have some weird ability to sense them? or was it something else?.

Putting the thought to the side she gave a deep breath and murmured a few words to herself attempting to build herself up for what needed to be done "K...Keep your promise ok and....and ill drink it, I dont think it....it will work but...I....I will be ok" the artist did seem a little concerned but was that due to her condition or on what this strange concoction would do. With a final breath, she closed her eye and downed it. Her body likely though would get to work on the foreign substance pretty quickly so it might not do what the artist anticipated, but if it helped others a bit she had to do it.

Character avatar

The ghosts following did make the entire ordeal a little more difficult, not only due to how obvious they became when moving through the streets but also how they kept getting in front of the cart she was using to move the other girl. The white masses did make it difficult to see where she was going or what was in front of her, but at least the display had masked her own presence as well as caused others to leave the area.

Overall it took her nearly half an hour to get back to the nearest camp, the inhabitants either giving a somewhat uncertain look at the ghosts or giving the bottles they were drinking from a second look before shrugging and taking another drink. Jane went about pulling some items off the cart to get ready for the girl, using some loose insulation with a tarp atop it for a bed on which to lay them.

The next several hours were spent watching over the stranger, having occasionally given them sips of water mixed with some sugar packets and setting aside some food for when they awoke. Keeping track of their condition she needed to make sure they didn't take a sudden turn, a hospital may have been better but given the ghosts that might have caused issues, plus the whole medical fees if they even gave her the time of day.

Character avatar

One foot infront of the other as Walker 1 year ago

Making her way to the only full physical person they could see, Jane would catch them as they fell with her good arm and lower her softly as she looked around the area again. It was fairly clear that the whole ghost thing was likely from this strange girl, though she supposed there was not really much she could say on that given her own condition. What she did know is the person needed help, and the ghosts would definitely cause a scene if they continued so her only real option was to try and get her someplace safer, as well as try and fulfil the short request she had managed to splutter out before falling to unconsciousness.

Without much more of a word, Jane managed to heave them onto her good shoulder and carry them off to her cart, intent on getting the girl to one of the more remote homeless camps to recover, along with arranging what food and water she could provide.

Ok that went better than she thought, though the look of Nona's face wasn't exactly giving a positive expression. She knew it she said something wrong, she should have been able to answer this stuff but she couldn't, Stupid, Stupid. Taking another deep breath she tries to focus, at least the next question was stuff she knew about "Erm Small appliances mostly? There were a few at one of the camps that showed me, Radios, a Microwave, a TV, Hotplates....erm, there was a washing machine once? It took a while to get it hooked up to a pump for the water barrel and its hard to run so it wasn't used too much..."

Nodding in agreement, it seemed they had been ok at least with some of her circumstances, moving over to get one of the plastic chairs and pull it closer to sit as she began her questions. The questions though did not get off to a good start with the girl seeming having to think intensely before relenting and giving each answer "I...erm they called me Jane Doe, I...I think im around 18 maybe?....I...Im not sure what I did before but maybe something to do with Trauma...response? Maybe sewing since im ok with those, I....i can tend to find stuff thats needed and know if its working or can be fixed.....oh right i guess i can cook a little too? so maybe i did something like that?" Her eye is darting from side to side as she tries to thinking of how to answer before stopping with a sigh "I really am sorry, I...My memory isnt.....isnt that good." More non-existent outside the odd flash but the whole waking up a few months ago with no memory wasnt really something she could just come out and say.

Stopping her run Jane reached out for one of the first people she encountered trying to get a better idea of just what was going on, only for them to vanish in a puff of smoke, the same with the next one. "Excuse me...huh? Hello, are..." This was definitely a cape but she was confused at just what specifically was happening. Catching sight of the dark figure in the center she would attempt to work her way through towards them.

"Hello is someone there? Its ok erm...Im not sure whats going on but,....but you need to try and stop because someone reported all this....."

Raising her unbandaged hand to her chin, she thinks over the woman's words. What she said did make sense, though it did feel a little manipulative and there was also the verbal confrontations that made her uneasy. Maybe it would help though with learning conflict resolution as Winona said? It would give her experience in that field that was definitely useful in her other work, and she did really need a job so she couldn't really say no to something now it was finally on the table.

She was broken from her thoughts by the woman's gaze narrowing on her at her admission, her eye widening as she quickly waves her hands in front of her "N...No! I haven't broken any laws....that I know of erm, I mean...Its just i dont have any real documentation that a few want" she takes another deep breath, turning away as she proceeds to fidgit with her hands.

"I...tried the whole opening a bank account part but they kicked me out since.,...i didn't have any of the information they wanted. I found someone who said they could get me a ID and SS Number but....I didnt have the money for that."

The rattling wheels of Janes's cart echoed off the uneven streets as she made her way around the city on her collections. Despite having perhaps secured a job, she still couldn't rely on that too much less it be lost and she is left with less than what she started. She was broken from her thoughts however when she heard the muffled voice come from her shopping cart, lowering her ear to pick up the specifics. Recently she had managed to find a half-broken ham radio thrown out in the alleys, and with a small amount of assistance managed to get it both working and tuned into the police frequencies. Sure it wasn't as portable as the small police radios but it had a wider range and longer charge considering the car battery it had been hooked up to.

We a deep swallow she braced herself for what was to come and ducked through an alleyway to store her cart away, turning off the radio as she did and forming her idea for a makeshift costume with a pained expression. Beneath the layers and bandages she wore a layer of deep red would roll over her features and then the rest of her body, appearing as a full red bodysuit, though perhaps made from unorthodox materials than others. As painful as it was to create however, it did the job of masking her appearance, not that she really had much to mask or hide given her circumstances but it did seem to be the way Heroes operated so she had to look the part.

Bracing herself, she would begin to push through the damage in her leg and start to run towards the area she had heard mentioned. She had little idea what she was running into, but she knew if she was going to help people and work on changing she had to go forward, to try and be a hero to make up for the sins she constantly felt but didn't know.

Arriving in the general area she looked around, trying to find the exact source that had drawn her to the area.

She considers it for a moment before giving a firm nod "I....I suppose. Im...just not really good with conflict" her eye goes over to the crowbar the woman had been holding. "I can do my best though, I don't...I guess i don't really need dental...." she pauses remembering something with a wince "Is the position....cash in hand? I don't think...I don't have a bank account, or current address....or.." a social security number, ID, work shoes the list would go on but she would refrain from mentioning all that "I can...erm even work off the books if that helps."

The smaller girl gives a faint nod as she could feel Winona's eyes travelling over her, getting the familiar judging sensation that caused her mind to go into overdrive and overthink the potential thoughts running through the other's mind. Naturally, this did cause more than a slight increase in her anxiety levels, but with a quick breath, she did her best to compose herself once more.

"I...i don't really...know how to use computers and....paperwork is..." She rubs a red-stained hand in thought trying to come up with the right words to explain but failing, leading to her changing the topic "I don't think I would be the best at dealing with people head on, but....I....I am fine with manual labour, I dont get tired easy and...and....Im not as fragile as i look" her speech quickening though her final words did seem to be her collecting her resolve with the firmness in which they were spoken.

"I..Im sure i can..I can do it and i would make sure you wouldnt....wouldnt reject giving me the opportunity!"

As the conflict took place, Jane herself seemed to have glued herself to the wall not wanting to get involved though at the same time uneasy at the possibility a fight is about to break out. She silently prayed the younger man would be successful in managing the situation and was relieved it came true when the family passed away. This did however have the unconsidered outcome though of having a somewhat annoyed and armed mechanic with Jane as her new focus. The fact they jumped back into a friendly tone so fast, simply made Jane believe the opposite could also be true should she miss step.

"Erm...H..Hello, Um there...there was..a flyer with Help...Help wanted?" holding up a familiar flyer with a few brown and red stains across its edges, a shaking finger gesturing towards the assistant line. Sure there had already been a few red flags but she really shouldn't jump to conclusions over a chance bad encounter, and besides she really did need a job so regardless she had to keep trying on her side.

Jane could see the danger escalating as the paints began to be mixed, whatever was in those cans she could smell from here and they did not seem to be anything good. With the cop out of the way in case there was some splash, she takes an unsteady step closer as much as she hated to. Her hands were shaking but she didnt take her eye off the mixing cans as she edged closer, so with a deep breath to try and gain some composure she decided to speak again.

"Please...stop mixing those, its....its only going to make things worse, you....your not going to get anything out of it...your not going to be in serious trouble yet but...but..escalating this will....it wont have any positive outcome, right?" she gives a short glance to the costumed cape and then back to the Artists concoctions.

Jane had stored her cart away with a trusted friend, well as trusted as she knew, with several cans of food to ensure it remained available when she returned. While this wasn't ideal, she couldn't very well go around answering job vacancies appearing homeless, regardless of its truth. Sure she had tried before and failed, but that didn't mean she was to give up, she had to keep trying.

She had done her best to appear somewhat presentable, with clean bandages for a change and worn clothes smelling far more of soap than whatever had soaked into the fibres over the weeks and no holes. Sure it was a hooded top and slacks but this time her shoes matched, and she did get a pair of socks. It would have made her feel better and fresh, though each movement would remind her of the truth of what lay behind the bandages, and the shooting burning sensation that came with her eternal branding.

Apparently, many years ago she had heard there were phones everyone could use in the city, though those had long since ceased to exist, either destroyed by vandals or removed entirely. This meant her job hunting was limited to in-person only, which brought her to the doors of the Silver Star company. Bracing herself and taking a deep breath, she stood there for several moments before building up the courage to enter with a flyer in hand, her one visible eye scanning for a member of the company.

Keeping guard of the Officer until the Paramedics arrive, the girl once again seems to be checking his vitals though at the same time does not take her eye off the confrontation. She really didn't know how to handle this situation but a the same time she needed to do something as much as her legs were shaking.

Swallowing hard as the artist started mixing she really wasn't sure that was entirely normal paint, or even what he was drinking given the weird substance on the officer. What she could tell was that they were making a joke of all this, like throwing a gun in the pool for a kid to maybe find was just asking for more chaos. Maybe this was all the person wanted, but motivations would need to wait until this was less of a potential powder keg.

"H,,,How can you not be taking any of this seriously? Also....mixing those on the street are they even normal paints?"

Jane keeps standing over the officer in her protective stance right as another person enters the scene, though it was not fully expected to have someone fly down. "Ern...Please be careful....She might have a gun, I cant see it but the officer is missing...Miss?" turning to Zipdash but really unsure how to address them.

Jane was not unaware of what was going on around her, though physically she was more focused on heaving the officer into a better position, she didn't want them swallowing their tongue or anything, She also carefully brushed off the glass from his face as well, that could cause an issue should they wake and rub their face as well.

She was midway through this when the muffled threat was heard causing their head to snap up as the artist confirmed themselves as the one responsible. "He,,,doesnt have his weapon out its...still in the holster?" her gaze went to the area and noticed the lack of fire arm, combined with the painter's admission did give upsetting revelation as a possibility. "H...He was just trying to do his job" She stands up and moves over to cover them, a little unsure of what the masked individual was about to do, though at the same time she was trying to see if there was any telltale sign of a concealed weapon like the one missing.

After giving the man the once over she was looking around trying to think of something to do, the others were just standing there so did he do this? and then just left him? No, she couldn't think about that, she needed to make sure the man was safe. "How can you leave this guy here! He needs help!"

With a pained grunt, she moved to drag the man over towards his car, popping open the door after setting him in a recovery position next to it and reaching over for the Radio. It was at this point she realized she really didn't know how to use the thing "Erm. Breaker. Breaker? Officer Down erm, Dispatch Ambulance to....." she leaned to look at the distant street sign "Alexandra Street?...10-4 erm...Roger Roger? I really dont know what to say but please send help, I found him unconscious and think he might have been hurt by something"

The slow rattling of the wheels of a cart sounded across the streets, mixed with a symphony of clanging cans, bottles and other assorted objects partially muffled by layers of fabrics. The slow steady steps of Jane soon followed, her head cast down as it scanned the immediate sidewalk she walked. Most of her weight seemed to be braced across her left arm on the handles, the faint limp in her right leg breaking the usual rhythm of the stride. The darkening streets of the evening were casting their shadows, with the occasional street light that was flickering doing more to reveal the number that was broken than actually functioning. Picking up the occasional can or bottle on her way, it wasn't until the wheel of the cart met a soft resistance she actually noticed what it was, the body hidden within a pool of dim light in the middle of the street.

Quickly darting around the cart however with its good a far lower priority, she brought herself to her knees to inspect him more closely, her hand moving fluidly from his wrist to his eyes to check if he was still alive, before lowering the side of her face to his mouth, attempting to rouse the man once she confirmed there was no actual wounds or breaks. It was as she was checking his breathing that noticed it, small amounts of glass and traces of some substance across his features, she did not know exactly what to make of it but it was clear it wasn't a positive. First, though she had to confirm the vitals and if he was safe to move, anything else could come later.

Interlude 0: Diary of Jane as Walker 1 year ago

The solemn form of a girl could be seen among the busy goers of the street though most likely either paid her no mind or gave simple disdain as they continued on their way. Almost mundified in darkened bandages below a ragged-looking hoody and pants, she sat with one arm around her knee atop the flattened cardboard, a paper cup to her side with a random assortment of coins from the more charitable of the passers-by. She hated having to do this, cold and yet burning from the ever-present pain of her wounds, begging for perhaps a few more coins to help get what she needed.

After all, while she had managed to get sufficient at knowing which stores throughout the mostly intact expired or old goods at which times, those were all in the late evening, and she did end up sharing most of those around the encampments. But that would only go so far, in this world, they needed money and her options had been somewhat limited due to her circumstances. Without an address, bank account or any identification legitimate employment was not exactly easy to come by, even if she had access to cleaner clothing and a shower. On the flip side, as desperate as she was, there was already enough guilt knawing at her inside to really consider stealing, not even accounting for the risks should she get caught. So here she found herself, wanting to help and do good to selfishly ease her inner turmoil, but with no way of doing anything other than the odd gesture when she couldn't even help herself.

She watched the people go by for a while longer until the traffic began to die down, the hustle and bustle of the noon rush were ebbing away and with it the people so she took that as her cue to move on. While there were some that would remain all day without the motivation to move, she at least could still bring herself to her feet. A shot of pain would fire up her side as she put pressure on her right leg as she got up, pushing through the sting and burning rose, becoming the ever-present sensation that was her one constant companion, but as always she carried on through it, collected her cup and making her way to a partially laden cart next to her as she counted it. The girl started to move away with only crimson stains to mark where she had once been.

Holding the cup tightly in her bandaged hand she began to count, moving the coins around with the other so as not to stain them. $24.63. It was always an odd number like that, some using it as a chance to be ridden of copper shrapnel but she appreciated it all the same. Now storing it away she began to walk pushing her cart, each step a reminder and a new fresh sensation shooting up a reminder. She could not recall how she got these wounds or even who she was, but there was a pain that knawed greater still, a guilt inside, she justified she must have deserved them, a rationalisation to make sense of the world she found herself in.

Jane truly believed she had to have done something to deserve her circumstance, unable to accept the contrary that this would be inflicted for no reason, and so she made each step an act of penance in a way. As comfortable as it would be just to remain laid down, she had things she could do, and hopefully, through that, the guilt could ease even if a little, yet at the same time she hypocritically seemed to think doing it just to feel better was just being more selfish, a vicious cycle she had trapped herself in. One that left her feeling undeserving, yet in dire need, giving everything she had, but unable to get what she needed.

So for now she kept pushing the cart, maybe fortune would smile on her and she would find something of use among the alleyways to add to its contents, an old appliance one of those back at the camp could fix to make use of? some more clean cards, or some other useful resource for the most resourceful.
